From: Seattle | We had a wonderful time in DC and really enjoyed staying in the apartment.

From: Denmark | We are a small family of three from Denmark, who stayed with Chris for
three months from October through December 2005 in apartment 1 on South
Carolina Ave. The location is absolutely great for bringing a child to
DC
as playgrounds in the area are plenty and the neighbourhood is
friendly
and safe. There is also a public pool with a baby spa behind the
Eastern
Market and strollers fit easily in the metro, which takes you anywhere
from Eastern Market Station. Chris was very helpful during our stay,
making his utmost to equip the apartment and make it suitable for
living
with a baby. We recommend Chris for anyone looking for a temporary
place
in DC.

From: Texas | Thanks for everything Chris. The place/location was great. I really
enjoyed my time here.

From: New Mexico | We felt fortunate to have found Pettyjohn Place every day of our
11-month stay there. It is a fantastic neighborhood with great parks, good
restaurants, Eastern Market, and easy access to the Orange and Blue
metro lines. The apartments themselves are great with all the amenities
you could wish for. To top things off, Chris is a great landlord who
never failed to be extremely responsive to any issues that arose. In
short, I would highly recommend Pettyjohn Place to anyone.

From: Boston | Thanks again - the location was great, the place itself had everything that I could possibly need (or even think I would need), and you were extremely helpful. I would highly recommend anyone in need of a temporary place to stay at the Pettyjohn apartments!! And I certainly will recommend it if I have any friends or family who end up coming down this way.

From: Champaign, IL | You can't beat the Pettyjohn place for convenience. It's close to
everything and offers an easy transition into D.C. life. Other
benefits include its location in a gorgeous neighborhood and having
Chris as a super-helpful landlord. |

From: Boston | We were nervous about finding suitable temporary housing in D.C. However once we found Pettyjohn place we realized it was perfect. Its location, near Eastern Market and on Capitol Hill was perfect. The apartment was clean and neat and Chris was quick to respond to our needs. We fell in love with Capitol Hill and would have loved to have moved there. We would happilly recommend Pettyjohn place as the perfect temporary housing option in Washington. |

From: Denver | My wife and I enjoyed our 10 month stay at Pettyjohn place. Eastern Market is a great neighborhood with nearby parks (dog friendly), groceries, restaurants and public transportation. Chris Pettyjohn was both attentive to our needs as tenants and flexible with regard to our transitional state in temporary housing. |

We stayed at Pettyjohn Place for 2 months while we were house hunting.
Chris went out of his way to work with our schedule, which was a
godsend. We loved the neighborhood and would have bought a house there if we
could have afforded it. We went to Eastern Market every weekend and
fell in love with the shops and restaurants along 8th street. There is a
great city pool near the apartments too,and running on the Mall can't
be beat. If you thrive in an urban environment, this is a great
stopover. We still talk often of our time on "the Hill," and the pleasant
time we had there. In addition I work from home on a PC and the amenities that Chris offered us (DSL hookup, satellite TV, laundry facility in the unit) made working from home so much easier and enjoyable than if I would have had to do it by dial up.

1126 South Carolina, Apt 3, was a pleasant experience. The neighbors and the Eastern Market area were wonderful and I felt safe walking through the area. Chris, I could not have had a better landlord! Thanks for everything.

We loved living at Pettyjohn Place during our short stay in DC last
summer. Not only was the apartment fully furnished with everything we could
possibly need, Chris was very helpful in every aspect. Our dog loved the front yard,
the cats loved the patio, and we even became great friends with other tenants in
the building. The location was perfect as well and had we stayed in DC, we
would've definitely stayed in that neighborhood. We can't say enough about it!

What a breathe of fresh air the Pettyjohn Place was! We are a small
foreign service family (including Mola the dog). We were reassigned to
Washington and spent the first three weeks in hotels until finding the Pettyjohn Place
on the web. Everything you read and see on the website is true. The place is
well kept - simple and sufficient. The people are extremely friendly and
its a bargain for the money (wireless web and cable - priceless extras). If
you're not sure, drop Chris a message. His response time is phenomenal and he
accommodates his client/neighbors without exception. I don't have
anything bad to say about this place and only hope that you get the chance we
had to avoid overpriced executive suites that don't offer half as much as the
Pettyjohn Place.

As a law student looking for a safe and convenient place to live for
the summer while working in downtown D.C., Pettyjohn Place fit the bill
perfectly for me. Everything about the apartment and the neighborhood
are exactly as described on the website, and Chris made the whole
experience as easy and hassle-free as it could be. I highly recommend
this place as an alternative to the hassles and risks of hunting for a
summer sublet.

"Perhaps you are like me. You are surfing the web, desperately looking
for someplace affordable and furnished to hang your hat for a while, and
you’re thinking “Hmm, this Pettyjohn Place sounds alright, but can I trust
something off the Net?”
Yes, you can! Our apartment (No. 2) was perfectly sized for 2 adults,
had all of the comforts of home (All you need to bring with you is a
toothbrush!), and was wonderfully located. How wonderful? When it came time to look for
our own place, we never looked outside of the neighborhood and now live 6
blocks down the street. Metro access is tremendously easy, Capitol Hill restaurants
and bars are plentiful, and the
Eastern Market farmers market is a treat.
We spent 2 months at Pettyjohn Place and have nothing but raves for the
hospitality of Chris and Tina. I know several people who moved to DC
when I did (September 2001) and they were absolutely jealous of the jewel that
we found.

From: Colorado | My apartment at Pettyjohn Place was the perfect home away from home.
The convenience of an apartment allowed me to settle into my two-month stay much more so than a
hotel would have. I had a place that felt more like home. My apartment became my second home in
no time, since it was furnished with everything I could possibly need during my stay. Chris and
Tina, as well as the other residents of the building were extremely friendly and made me feel
comfortable immediately. I also got to see a part of Washington, D.C. that I may never have seen,
had I stayed downtown at a hotel. The neighborhood surrounding the apartment was an entire
experience unto itself. The quaint streets, the beautiful row houses, the
Eastern Market and the nearby Lincoln Park all provide an attraction
apart from the usual tourist destinations. It’s the city you would never see, unless you stayed
there. I would highly recommend Pettyjohn Place to anyone considering a stay in Washington, D.C.
Whether your stay is long or short, for business or for pleasure, you’ll find a comfortable,
quiet, and friendly environment at Pettyjohn Place.

From: North Carolina | We enjoyed our stay at Pettyjohn Place. The apartment was safe,
convenient
to the Metro, Eastern Market (a true Capitol Hill treasure), Lincoln Park,
and the National Mall, as well as local pubs and restaurants. We
enjoyed
walking, running, and biking around the neighborhood, with its
tree-lined
streets, bricked sidewalks, and brownstones. The apartment is perfect
for a
short term stay...we came only with what would fit in our small station
wagon (including our two cats), and felt we had everything we needed,
including luxuries like HBO and DSL. Chris and Tina were always
accessible. Overall, we had a great stay and are considering Capitol
Hill if we decide to relocate.

From: Illinois | I lived at Pettyjohn Place for a semester and loved it! I found the
place
through the www.washingtoncitypaper.com site and I am so glad I did.
My
traveling zoo (one dog, two cats) and I were very happy there. The
neighbors
were very nice (including the landlord upstairs - which was very
comforting)
and the neighborhood was great. The Eastern Market was just a few
blocks
away and provided fresh meats, cheeses, and baked goods all week as
well as
great flea markets and crafts-people on the weekends. The metro was
also
just a few blocks away, making my commute downtown very easy. If you
are a
walker, it is a nice walk up to the Capitol and the Mall - and Lincoln
Park
is just a few blocks (if you want a shorter distance). All in all, I
think
that Pettyjohn Place is a great place to live in DC and if I ever come
back
to the city, I might be moving back in!

From: California | We lived at Pettyjohn Place for a glorious rainless Fall. We loved the
place. Both of us worked at UMCP and found the 18 minute, anti-commute
enjoyable. Staying in the Fall was delightful due to the changing of
the
colors. The B/W parkway to UMCP was in color the entire time.
On weekends we visited the Shanendohah Valley, Chincoteague, Chapel Hill
NC,
Virginia Beach, and New York City (yes, we were on the road
a lot). Weekends that we didn't travel, we visited museums and saw
some
Shakespeare at the Folger, right down the street.
As for the Eastern Market, we both have decided that if we were to ever
permanently locate in DC, we would buy a flat in either the Capitol
Hill or
Eastern Market districts. The neighborhoods (and they are
neighborhoods,
unlike cities around the beltway) are charming and full of character.
Great
restaurants are nearby and the pub scene is alive and kicking.
We found the apartment to be suitable for our needs. We spent quite a
bit of
time on the road and were always relieved to be back at "home". The
apartment is clean and comfortable, well furnished, with friendly
neighbors.
Perfect for one person, or two that know each other well.
